Identifying Goals For HS Aged Players ↓
Some want to play in college, some don't--or aren't sure yet--while others play multiple sports. Carrying a large roster and not forcing players to attend events allows us to serve players with a variety of goals and commitment levels while not diluting the experience for those that want to do more. For our High School aged players we are working to offer different teams/pathways depending on skill and commitment levels. The Acadamy group will be for the most driven and committed players. Our new High School Team will be for players who still want a competitive outlet, quality playing experience, and quality coaching but don't want to commit to the Academy expectations.
Burnout Prevention ↓
- Give players rest/recovery time after a grueling HS season
- Make sure they are peaking/resting at the right times
Increase Play Time Opportunities in the Summer ↓
- Players can still travel, attend camps, etc., but we can provide consistent training opportunities for those that are around over the summer months.
- Allows for players to be better prepared for their high school seasons.
For the 24/25 season Far Post has made the important decision to
reassess and reevaluate our oldest age group. Each year the needs of
our players change and we must adjust with them. This season we will
be offering multiple pathways to accommodate the goals and commitment
level of our players.
We will continue to provide our Academy team for our most committed players who want to push themselves, compete at the highest level, and increase their playing opportunities.
We have decided to add a secondary team this upcoming year to serve those
players who still want to train, play in a competitive environment,
compete in some games/events, but don't want to commit to the full
Academy offering. We understand our players in this age group have
varying goals, commitment levels, and available time so we wanted to
be sure to offer pathways to serve all players.
The academy group will be expected to have a high level of commitment
both at trainings and games/events. We plan to start slowly after the
high school season ends, allowing players to rest and recover. As the
season progresses so will our trainings. We will begin to increase
training as we start preparing for events in the late winter. Players
in this group are expected to be present consistently throughout the
year. We will be including 5 tournaments/events in your program cost
and players are expected to attend those events. All tournament dates
are determined before the season begins.
Our secondary team, the High School U19s, will have a consistent schedule all year long. We
will offer 1 training a week, even in the spring. Players will have
the option to play futsal during the winter then they will be
participating in a spring league and at least 1 event during the spring. Players
in this group are still expected to attend and be committed. We have
lessened the schedule to accommodate players’ needs, but still expect a
high commitment level for all scheduled events, games, and training.
We understand all players have different goals and visions for their
soccer careers. We want to help each player stay engaged with the
sport we all love and offer pathways that fit everyone's needs. Our
goal is to provide the best possible experience for every single
player in our club, and we feel these changes will allow us to serve
everyone.

College Soccer
Learn More ▸
Players in this age group are approaching a critical juncture in their life: college. With this comes a lot of uncertainty, questions, and anxiety about how to find the right social, academic, and--for many--soccer fit. While we do not force kids to play soccer in college, we want to make sure that every single Far Post player has the opportunity and resources available to them.
Far Post players go on to go to college at a very high rate. Every single player that graduates from Far Post is also capable of playing college soccer at some level, it's just a matter of what their priorities are and also making sure to not sacrifice their future in order to have this opportunity.
All of our coaches at this age group have played and/or coached at various levels of college soccer and are more than willing to help interested players navigate this difficult process. But, we feel strongly that this process needs to be driven by the player. If you think college soccer is something you want to commit to, reach out to your head coach to get the ball rolling.
Scholarships
Far Post’s Bill Kohlasch Scholarship Fund receives money from various sources including but not limited to charitable donations, special events hosted by Far Post and budgetary allocations as decided by the Far Post Board of Directors and Director.
The scholarship fund is managed by the Director with support from the Far Post Board Finance Committee. Decisions are disbursed based on financial need. The board may develop additional policies from time to time to address allocation of available funds.
Applicants must show a commitment to the game of soccer as demonstrated by their attendance in the program, hard work and willingness to develop their soccer skills.
ALL PLAYERS receiving assistance through this scholarship fund are required to write a thank you letter and provide some voluntary service to the club or to their own soccer community. Scholarships are for TRAVEL TEAM PLAYERS ONLY and may not be used for any other services provided by the club.
The Scholarship Application is embedded into the Travel Team Registration Process. If you have already filled out your registration, you can access the scholarship application by following these steps: How to Request Financial Aid – PlayMetrics Support Center
