Our U12 Program is for players born in 2006 and 2007 (for the 2017-18 season). Overseeing this program is our Director of Player Development, Ray Campanile, who works with each individual coach to ensure that each team is on the same pathway. These years are very formative in a players' development, and see players transition to a larger field with more tactical demands.
We continue with a heavy emphasis on improving our players' technical proficiency and ball control and begin to introduce larger tactical themes.
We have an optional fall season for those that want to supplement their school season, or those that do not have one. We have training 2x a week at Veterans Park with 1 game on the weekend (7 week season). Players are able to sign up for training only, games only, or both.
This is our indoor season at our home base, the Robert E. Miller Centre North at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction. The only thing that is mandatory is the team training session, with a number of additional opportunities each week that most players take advantage of. This allows the most dedicated players the opportunity to play 3-4 times a week, while also allowing some flexibility for those that play other sports.
Boys: Team training on Mondays 5-7pm. Optional skills session Saturday morning, 9-10:30am/10:30am-12pm rotating. Optional games Friday evenings.
Girls: Team training Wednesdays 5-7pm. Optional skills session Saturday morning, 9-10:30am/10:30am-12pm rotating. Optional games Friday evenings.
Extras: Monday night Boys' & Girls' Jr. Academy Sessions.
This is our outdoor season. Teams will have 2 training sessions a week beginning May 1, likely at Veterans Park in So. Burlington or Centennial Field in Burlington. We will also compete in the Vermont Soccer league. Each team will go to 2 tournaments (the first is Memorial Day weekend, the second is Father's Day weekend). Many teams opt to go to an early-season tournament in March as well.
All of our premier teams 2006 and older will compete in the Vermont State Cup. Semi-final matches take place late May, with the finals on June 4. Those teams that win their State Cup will represent Vermont at the Region I Championships in Spotsylvania, VA June 29-July 4. All teams should plan on ending July 4, with those that do not advance to Regionals concluding their season after Father's Day Weekend.
