Sam Alden

U19 Director of Coaching

Head Coach, 2006 Girls Premier & 2002 Girls Academy

Sam, a native of Essex, VT, currently lives in Burlington and is in his 10th year on staff with the club.

Sam started with Essex United before moving to Far Post at the age of 14, where he continued to play for 4 years. Sam also played for Essex High School for 4 years, including 2 years on varsity.

Sam then went to Hobart College in Geneva, NY, where he started and captained the Club Soccer program for 4 years. It was these experiences in leadership and management that helped him find his passion for coaching. While studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, Sam played for Øresund Klubfodbold. Sam graduated in 2011 with a double major in International Relations and Public Policy Studies.

Upon graduation, Sam returned home to Vermont where he started coaching Far Post summer camps before taking over the Essex Middle School soccer program and Far Post U12 Boys Premier team. After serving the club in a number of different capacities in his first year, Sam was made the Indoor League Manager before absorbing a number of administrative and strategic duties in a new position as Director of Operations. Sam left his full time position at Far Post in fall 2019 to pursue his MBA at the University of Vermont, but remains as the U19 Director of Coaching, and Head Coach of the 2006 Girls Premier team.

Sam is a die-hard Liverpool fan and enjoys skiing, biking, and traveling in his time off. He holds his USSF D License and NSCAA National Diploma.
