Sam Alden

Director of Operations. Head Coach, 2003 Girls & 2001 Boys Premier.

Sam, a native of Essex, VT, currently lives in Burlington and is in his 6th year on staff with the club.

Sam started with Essex United before moving to Far Post at the age of 14, where he continued to play for 4 years. Sam also played for Essex High School for 4 years, including 2 years on varsity.

Sam then went to Hobart College in Geneva, NY, where he started and captained the Club Soccer program for 4 years. It was these experiences in leadership and management that helped him find his passion for coaching. While studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, Sam played for Øresund Klubfodbold. Sam graduated cum laude in 2011 with a double major in International Relations and Public Policy Studies.

Upon graduation, Sam returned home to Vermont where he started coaching Far Post summer camps before taking over the Essex Middle School soccer program and Far Post U12 Boys Premier team. After serving the club in a number of different capacities in his first year, Sam was made the Indoor League Manager before absorbing a number of administrative and strategic duties in his new position as Director of Operations.

Sam oversees most of the day-to-day operations at Far Post including scheduling, league management and referee assignments, website maintenance and development, is our intermediary with the VSA, and also aids in curriculum development. He is also the Head Coach of both our 2003 Girls and 2001 Boys Premier teams. He holds his USSF D License and NSCAA National Diploma.

In addition to his work with Far Post, Sam is in his fifth year as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Norwich University. 

Sam is a die-hard Liverpool fan and enjoys skiing, boating, and traveling in his time off.
